Share Your Havurah Resources
The NHC is working on a resource site where people will be able to find tips and tools to better their minyans and havurahs, or learn about starting new ones. And we could use your help.
Does your havurah or minyan have a website? Do you have a page of tips you give to new leyners or service leaders? Do you have favorite or unusual nigguns recorded on your computer? Do you have articles,essays, about the havurah movement? If you have any of these things,or anything else that would fit into the following categories, please consider sharing them.
We're especially interested in pieces that fall into the following categories:
- Networking, advertising, and gathering people to begin a havurah or minyan; leading up to the first meeting;
- Governance and the dynamics of small groups; -Finance, including applying for tax-exempt status as a religious organization;
- Best practices for leading services, and halakhic issues concerning davening;
- Niggunim;
- Non-davening programming ideas;
- Articles about Havurah Judaism and bibliography material;
- Social justice/tikun olam issues.
If you're able to contribute, please include how you would like to be credited (name or blogonym, for example), and if/where the piece was previously published (website, journal, etc.). Please send these either as Word or PDF attachments, or cut and paste into the body of an email, to benjamin.m+resources [at] gmail.com
The goal is to launch this site by New Year's; submissions greatly appreciated in the next week, but will not be turned away after that.
