Recent Covid-19 Vaccination Required
Because viruses change over time, all adults and children over age 5 must provide proof of at least one dose or booster of Covid-19 vaccination within the past 12 months. The Covid-19 vaccine provides three main benefits:
- reduces the likelihood of contracting Covid-19
- reduces the risk of serious Covid-19 infections
- reduces likelihood of transmission of infection to others
You must submit a copy of your Covid-19 immunization certificate upon registering. Many providers have stopped giving vaccination cards, so other evidence of vaccination is acceptable: photo of follow-up care instructions, screenshot of a pharmacy app, etc.
NOTE: Pediatric vaccines were scarce during the summer of 2024. To be sure that you can get the entire family vaccinated, schedule appointments as soon as possible. |
Testing Required
Self-administered tests are required before arrival. Each attendee must also test negative before entering public spaces every morning.
If you have tested positive, you must quarantine in a separate room until you are no longer contagious. Current guidelines say that improved symptoms and 24 hours with no fever (without use of a fever-reducer) indicates that you are no longer contagious, so pack a thermometer just in case!
Face Coverings Optional
Masks will not be required in any indoor spaces.
- You are welcome to wear masks and to distance yourself from those not wearing masks.
- Not wearing a mask? Please check with anyone wearing a mask or sitting separately, and honor their request to mask before joining them or to sit elsewhere.
Dining
Food will be served indoors on a buffet line. You will have options for eating indoors or outdoors.
Indoor and Outdoor Activities
Community-wide activities will be scheduled outside when possible. In addition, you can request that your class meet outdoors or to move to a class that does meet outdoors.
Other Vaccinations
In addition, all attending must attest to being vaccinated for (or having natural immunity to) infectious diseases according to the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/imz-schedules/index.html) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (www.aap.org/en/patient-care/immunizations/).
NHC will monitor CDC and AAP outbreak maps and advise if proof must be provided for any particular vaccine besides Covid-19.
Changing Circumstances
The NHC seeks to protect the health of attendees at NHC events by maintaining policies regarding immunization and other public health practices. This policy serves the members of our community, both individually and collectively. The NHC reserves the right to make changes to any of these policies if circumstances or public health regulations change between now and July.
Exemptions
If you have not been vaccinated within the past year and would like to request an exemption from the policy, please email us at office@main.havurah.org before you register for Summer Institute. You will need to send a letter to the NHC office from a licensed physician (MD or DO) with a specific reason why the individual cannot or should not be vaccinated. The NHC Board reserves the right to use publicly-available resources to verify the licensure and legitimacy of physicians writing exemption letters.
