Ochilah (“I will hope”) Rosh Hashanah melodies & Yom Kippur melodies (2 dates)

Saturday, September 26: 9-11pm EDT

Ochilah (“I will hope”) is a two-part digital gathering designed to honor the high holy days through song. The sessions will convene for Rosh Hashanah melodies on 9/13 (3-5 PM Eastern Time), and Yom Kippur melodies on 9/26 (9-11 pm Eastern Time ). Through participatory singing led by clergy and lay leaders from across the country, we will sing through some of the most pivotal moments of the Ashkenazi high holiday liturgy. While our hearts yearn to gather in person, we welcome the opportunity to bridge the distance by raising our voices and our spirits together.

This Zoom gathering will not take the form of a service, but would be an opportunity for us to sing some of our favorite high holiday tunes together with the vibes of a service, led by seasoned shlichei tzibur. Our organizing team has chosen a selection of “elements” from each of the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Ashkenazi liturgies, which will then be led by prayer leaders all over with an energy approaching a services energy.
