• This year’s theme of עִיר מִקְלָט “Ir Miklat: City of Refuge” can be found in a small corner of parshat Matot-Masei (Numbers 30:2 - 36:13). It epitomizes how we want this year’s institute to feel: a space where both the individual and the community at the heart of the Havurah ethos can come together in a safe space to create something meaningful, where our connections are welcoming and inclusive, fun and exciting, relaxing and energizing, and insightful and spiritually significant for our diverse community of participants.

The Core Team envisions Institute as our City of Refuge--a place that’s safe--this year more than ever. What is it YOU need refuge from? We welcome you to join us at Pearlstone Center for sanctuary and refuge, to renew and refresh, and to play, rest, create and learn with us! Summer Institute will take place july 29-August 4, 2024.

2024: Get Involved in Summer Institute

Get Involved in Summer Institute

We need lots of people to help make Summer Institute work! And there are many ways to get involved. There are ways to work on your own or as part of team. Some jobs revolve around coordinating things in the months leading up to Institute but don’t require a lot of time at Institute. Other roles don’t involve much work beforehand but are more hands-on during Institute.

Whether you know exactly how you’d like to help or want to set up a time to chat about what roles might be a good fit for you, please email us.

We’re Looking for a Kids’ Camp Director

Do you have experience working with children? Or do you know a fantastic Jewish educator you’d like to see apply? We’re looking for someone to lead Kids’ Camp at Summer Institute. This is a paid position and includes free room and board at Institute. See the full job listing here.

Work Study Positions

This year, we’re looking for one person to help with office tasks from April through July and for several people to help out in the office and with general volunteer needs during Institute. People doing work study receive a discount on the price of registration. Apply here.

There will also be work study positions for Kids’ Camp counselors. Check back soon more information on counselor positions.

Teach a Workshop

Anyone can apply to teach a workshop! At Summer Institute, every teacher is a student and every student is a teacher. Workshops are approximately 45 minutes-1 hour long and can be on any topic you dream up. When you register for Institute, you’ll have a chance to tell us about any workshops you’d like to lead.

Zeitler Fellowship

Zeitler Fellows are a cohort of young adults (ages 22-32) who are exploring their roles as participants and emerging leaders in their Jewish communities, and who are new to the NHC community. They pay $200 (which includes registration and dues) to attend Institute and participate in all that Institute has to offer.

The Zeitler Fellowship is generously funded by Frances Turim Zeitler. Applications will be available before registration opens.

Teach a Course or Apply for a Residency
