2024: Get Involved in Summer Institute

Get Involved in Summer Institute

Volunteer

We need lots of people to help make Summer Institute work! And there are many ways to get involved. There are ways to work on your own or as part of team. Some jobs revolve around coordinating things in the months leading up to Institute but don’t require a lot of time at Institute. Other roles don’t involve much work beforehand but are more hands-on during Institute.

Whether you know exactly how you’d like to help or want to set up a time to chat about what roles might be a good fit for you, please email us.

Work Study Positions

This year, we’re looking for one person to help with office tasks from April through July and for several people to help out in the office and with general volunteer needs during Institute. People doing work study receive a discount on the price of registration. Apply here.

There will also be work study positions for Kids’ Camp counselors. Check back soon more information on counselor positions.

Teach a Workshop

Anyone can apply to teach a workshop! At Summer Institute, every teacher is a student and every student is a teacher. Workshops are approximately 45 minutes-1 hour long and can be on any topic you dream up. When you register for Institute, you’ll have a chance to tell us about any workshops you’d like to lead.

Zeitler Fellowship

Zeitler Fellows are a cohort of young adults (ages 22-32) who are exploring their roles as participants and emerging leaders in their Jewish communities, and who are new to the NHC community. They pay $200 (which includes registration and dues) to attend Institute and participate in all that Institute has to offer.

The Zeitler Fellowship is generously funded by Frances Turim Zeitler. Applications will be available before registration opens.

Teach a Course or Apply for a Residency

Applications to for course teachers and Liturgist-in-Residence are now closed. Artist-in-Residence applications are due Tuesday, February 27th. Read more here.
